MAC – Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

I am really excited to share with you all my thoughts on the MACStudio Fix Fluid Foundation today!

I use shade NW20 with all base products I buy from MAC! I’ve found, and been asked a lot about NW & NC when you are buying base products from MAC & want to share with you all the differences between NW & NC, to help with selecting the right foundation / base products that will suit your skin tone!

NW – stands for Neutral Warm &

NC – stands for Neutral Cool

I have pink / beige undertones to my skin complexion, so I would opt for an NW based product as it will help neutralise my skin by using a cool, yellow based product! & if you have yellow undertones to you skin tone, you’d probably be better off using an NC based product, as it will help to neutralise your skin colour & will work with your skin!

So basically, if I’ve confused you, I want to try & un-confuse you, I’ve probably even confused myself ๐Ÿ˜›

Cool Undertones โ€“ If you have very fair skin like myself, and you have pinkish undertones in your skin, then you are cool toned and to neutralise that, you would need and NWย shade.

Warm Undertones โ€“ If you have a medium / dark skin tone and have yellow undertones, then to neutralise that you’ll need anย NC shade.

I’ve never tried any foundations from MAC before & I was interested in trying this particular one, as I heard it was great for a medium matte coverage!!! & because I have an oily T-zone I thought it will keep everything in place & not create a lot of shine on my t-zone area! I’ve been really happy with this purchase in fact, I really like the coverage of this foundation, it’s really easy to blend into the skin & I use my Nicka K Airbrush blending spongeย to apply the foundation onto my face & it doesn’t dry quickly, & the formula gives me enough time to fully blend it all into my skin! It also has SPF 15 Which is great to protect you against the sun, but I haven’t fully tested this out yet, as the weather hasn’t been very sunny here in London ( the slight wave of sun, clouded by rain & you guessed it more & more rain) haha!

I love the lasting nature of this foundation too, it manages to stay 12+ Hours on my skin without sweating off & I love that, the foundation feels light & breathable on the skin. It feels like air on the skin! But if I compare it to my Charlotte TilburyMagic Foundation it’s not as light, or velvety as the Charlotte Tilbury one! Then again I’m making slight comparisons between my foundations! & If I’m honest, yes it costs ยฃ3 cheaper to buy the foundation & pump from MAC ยฃ26.50, but in comparison to the Charlotte Tilbury foundation ยฃ29.50, it doesn’t get everything quite right. Don’t get me wrong I love everything about this foundation, but comparing the actual blending qualities, the lasting nature, the coverage, the formula and everything it doesn’t quite beat my Magic Foundation (But it does the job)!!!

You can check out my Charlotte TilburyMagic Foundation review here!

*A few little things that you have to consider when purchasing the MAC foundations is that the foundation doesn’t come with an included pump, and so you’ll need to purchase aย separateย pump for ยฃ4.50 (so if you compare the foundation prices with other high end alternatives you’re paying the same amount… but that one comes with a pump included in the price) LOL!

Me rocking the Studio Fix Foundation, with my best friend Ghaida next to me <3 !

    1. Awww sweetie! I’m glad I could help you out! I had no idea about the NC / NW thing until I kept swatching the ranges at MAC & finally speaking to a couple of makeup artists there they helped me determine my skin tone base! :p & then I have been speaking to a lot of people that use MAC & for their opinions too! ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

  1. I think it’s so cheeky asking you to pay even more money for a pump that really should be included! They do that with my Nars Sheer Glow too. I’d love to try Studio Fix but, once again, there are no counters near enough for me to swatch them.

    1. Hahaha the cheek! Oh really? Even the nars foundation? I had no idea about that! & the Nars one is more expensive than the MAC ones! Aww sweetie! What colour foundation do you use from Nars? I could help you find the right colour from mac & I think you’d be an NW shade! ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

    1. I havent used the Urban Decay foundations but I’ve heard a lot about them! Oh thank you sweetie ๐Ÿ™‚ you’re so kind <3 you should definitely give this one a go! You'll love it! Xoxo

  2. Amazing post, really love the pictures of the foundation & I love how you’ve explained to us about the NW/ NC i think I fall under the NC as I’m golden toned! But why do they charge for the pump seperately, that’s a bit of a joke xx

    1. Thanks so much Lisa <3 ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm really glad you enjoyed this post! & glad you're more informed about the Nw/ Nc shades! Haha it took a while to finally understand each colour group & figure out which one I am! ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm really surprised about the separate pump purchase instead of including it into the price! I do find that a bit of a joke myself tbh!!!! Loool xoxo

    1. Awww thanks so much my beautiful Annie ๐Ÿ™‚ <3 you're always so kind to me my beautiful granny! <3 hahaha! We had a lovely Italian meal that night & a walk around Central London :p what did you get up to in the weekend? :p xoxo

      1. just had a really chilled one at home with the Man and my other 4-legged man in the family! ate, slept, blogged, repeat, Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, repeat, etc…
So much fun I’m telling you!
Now I’m behind my desk… at work! NO fun! :/ xx, Annie | Annieโ€™s Beauty

      2. Seems like the best weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d be happy with watching Lord of the Rings & the Hobbit any day loooool! Hahaha! Now you’re on your phone secretly under the desk lol :p…. Messaging away :p hehe xoxo

    1. Thanks so much Gemma! ๐Ÿ™‚ you should definitely give it a go! I think you’d be an Nw shade!!! awww thanks sweetie! I’m wearing a Gerard Cosmetics Hydra matte lipstick in Iced Mocha ๐Ÿ™‚ I bought it off Beauty bay! Xoxo

      1. Ooh never heard of that before and will definately check it out. Thank you and have a lovely evening x

      2. No problem lovely, Gerard Cosmetics is an American Brand ๐Ÿ™‚ & you should check out Beauty bay, they have a lot of brands that arent available here in the UK which is Aaaaaamazing! ๐Ÿ™‚ thank you Gemma, I hope you have a lovely rest of the evening :)! Xoxo

  3. Great review, Serene. I love MAC face and body foundation, it’s really good and does a proper job, without creasing or getting into my pores. It’s my second favorite, #1 is of course CT light wonder. That foundation really is MAGIC. Have you tried the Laura Mercier candleligh soft foundation everyone is talking about? Happy new week.

    1. Thanks so much sweetie! I havent tried the face & body foundation yet! I will give the Laura Mercier one a go! I’ve also heard a lot of amazing things about that foundation! As for the CT one I haven’t tried the light wonder yet, but I’ve tried the Magic Foundation & I adoreeeee that one! ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for your recommendations Lenya! ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

      1. I forgot to tell you that the light wonder has a dewy finish, it’s great for dry skin/mature skin as it does not get into any creases or pores. Even after a very loooong and hard working day it looks like the minute you left the house. But I think it might not be suitable for very oily skin, tho. Happy hump day, Serene. xoxo

      2. Ohh, I wouldn’t be able to get away with the light wonder in that case, my t-zone is very oily & I cant have a dewy finished foundation ๐Ÿ™ thanks for letting me know <3 you're a star! Happy Hump day Lenya ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

    1. Thanks so much Shireen! The one I use is more matte than dewy, and I prefer it only because I have an oily t-zone! But I wouldn’t recommend this as having a dewy finish to it! ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

  4. I didn’t like Mac Face and Body, but I’m kind of curious to try this one… although I think maybe I want to try the Charlotte Tilbury one more! So many foundations, so little time! x

    1. I’ve never used the face & body! That one sounds like a recipe for disaster loool! You have to try this or the CT one, the magic foundation is amazing, I’m yet to find one that will beat it ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

    1. hahah! I wondered about that a long time, Until I was like yeah why is it NC & Why is it NW! Thanks so much Rach <3 ๐Ÿ™‚ you should defo go and swatch some of the mac colours & yesssss do try the Charlotte Tilbury one, it's my favourite at the moment! ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

  5. 12+ hours lasting power sounds totally ideal and especially when travelling! As mad as it sounds, I’m yet to experiment with MAC products – even after your fab lipstick reviews!! Ah, time to change that…. x

    1. haha, Ahhh with 12+Hours of staying power, this thing literally stays on through rain, sweat, tears lol! You have to try some out Gabrielle, you’ll love the MAC base ranges, I’m intrigued by their blotting powder next! ๐Ÿ˜€ & awww thanks so much babe, you’re such a sweetheart! xoxo

  6. Great post! I’ve been thinking about giving this product a chance, but I’ve heard it breaks a lot of people out and oxidizes. Does this happen to you??
